Hangzhou
Provinz Zheijang, China
Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province and is 190 km south of Shanghai. It is one of the most important trading centers for Chinese silk and has over six million inhabitants. The urban planning provides for the creation of 21 new cities around Hangzhou, including the city of Linjiang with an area of 85 km² and approximately 560,000 planned residents. There is a large wetland on the competition site, some of which should be integrated into the design as leisure and recreational areas, such as the Xixi Wetlands. The main focus of Linjiang should be in the areas of research, technology, ecological industry and high-quality production.
