Bavarian International School - Sports Hall
Haimhausen
The existing two-court sport hall no longer provided sufficient capacity for the sports requirements of the school. A modification of the existing hall on the basis of its orientation and its complete restructuring did not make economic sense.
It therefore decided to build a three-court sport hall to the north-eastern side of the existing building. Remaining as a sports hall during the construction period, this building will later be converted into a technology building.
The Hall extends in a longitudinal direction parallel to the street. The development will be finished after the completion of the Technology building. Natural daylighting is provided on the north side of the building facing the sport fields.
The entrances on the south-west side of the building leads directly to the escape staircases, from here access is provided to the teachers' room, a small kitchen and is connected to the outfield sport shoe entrance.
The Changing rooms for each hall are reached along the internal sport shoe corridor. A corridor on the west-side leads to the external sport equipment room.
The upper floor includes a classroom for physical education, two inter connectable gyms, for use during examination times with room for up to 130 students, spectator seating, a gym as well as technology and ancillary rooms.
For an optimal distribution of escape routes, there are two external steel staircases. The stairs on the east side is hidden by a colored reinforced concrete wall. This has become the symbol of the new entrance to BIS.
